Beachscapes
A long exposure and a low viewpoint can transform a scene, magnifying it into something that doesn’t actually exist. Gary King’s beautiful, minimalistic portfolio of beach scenes is on board to inspire you into an early start. Spending hours waiting for the right light, covering the eyepiece and shooting blind and occasionally losing your camera to a rockpool are sacrifices worth making when you capture pictures like these.

In the city
As subjects go, urban landscapes are widely accessible and most people are able to get to a busy town or city environment with only a little effort, making cityscapes a great choice packed with potential pictures. Architecture, people and changing light all play a part in the cinematic scenes captured in Michael Marsh’s photographs, and his eight page portfolio and interview should have you and your camera jumping on a bus to the metropolis in a heartbeat.

Review: Nikon D800
With 36.3 megapixels, this full-frame DSLR has a resolution that compares with medium format and the body sells for a very competition £2600. But does it deliver – and do you actually need that many pixels? Find out in our full test on this exciting new camera.

Group Test: Extreme ND filters
Part of every landscaper’s kitbag, an extreme ND filter is fast becoming a popular way to capture the world on camera – but do you actually need one? We round up a whole bunch of the popular, the unknown and the practically unobtainable and test them in this issue to see what’s worth your hard-earned cash.

Raw Masterclass
Once you’ve shot your extreme filter landscape, you’ll probably have some tweaking to do – so this issue’s Raw Masterclass covers off the essentials of adjustments in Lightroom to get you the realistic colours. A full step-by-step guide will ensure that your pictures are perfectly exposed in no time at all.
